Our School Based Curriculum

 Woodstock’s School Based Curriculum

The New Zealand Curriculum comprises of six different aspects. These are
  • vision
  • core principals
  • values
  • key competences
  • pedagogy
  • learning areas – English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Social Sciences, Technology, Arts, languages

These combine to set a direction for learning by:

  • clarifying and refining outcomes
  • focussing on effective teaching
  • strengthening school’s ownership of curriculum
  • supporting communication and strengthening partnerships with parents and communities (adapted from 1 The NZ Curriculum Framework

It is comprised of a set of national curriculum statements which define the learning principals and achievement aims and objectives which all New Zealand schools are required to follow.  (p.4 The NZ Curriculum Framework)

Woodstock School curriculum outlines the ways in which we put into practice the policy set out in the National Curriculum statements. It has been developed through a collaborative decision making process that has involved all staff members and consultation with the community. We view our school based curriculum as an evolving curriculum that may need continual refinement to meet the changing needs of our learners, teachers, students and the community

Through our school based curriculum we endeavour
to best equip our students for
the world they will be living in
when they leave school and also
enable them to contribute positively
to their own well being and
that of society and the environment.
